The aesthetic and usage similarities with the Gajeta are such that it is often It is difficult to distinguish them.
In Croatia it is first mentioned in the Trogir manuscripts in 1617, and since then it has been was developed in a few basic forms, among which the most distinctive are those of Korcula, Betina and Zadar.
The Trajta based its navigation mainly on sails rather than oars, for this reason it had a mast with a lateen sail rig. This is undoubtedly a transport vessel of Korcula construction, but it also has some structural characteristics of the Gajeta. His name derived from that of the fishing nets he used. In fact this is a type of net that in Korcula, Smokvica, Lumbarda and Pelješca was called trajta, which means to drag, to tow. It derives directly from the Latin word tracta, which is the feminine past participle of the verb trahere (to draw). The group of people who fish with this type of net was called in the same way.
Trajta, as a fishing boat, is mentioned for the first time as a trakta in 1734 in Mljetu and in 1742 in Ston.
The Trajta nowadays is unfortunately not more used.
