Gaeta is a wooden boat used in the past for fishing, while nowadays it is mainly used for the transport of goods. Its length reaches up to 12 meters and width up to 4 meters.
Already in the 16th century its characteristic shape emerged, while the name of Gaeta appeared only in the 17th century.
The distinctive characteristics of these boats date back to the ancient times of the pirate ships of the Neretva and Omis, to the times of the sagenas Croatian, to King Tomislav's ships, which probably had similar shapes, with rounded bow and stern.
