by Model Expo

Native to 16th century Europe, the Pinky received its name from its raised, narrow, pinkish stern. These sturdy, seaworthy vessels ruled the New England fishing industry from 1815 to 1840. They were gradually replaced by larger boats. great and fast Gloucester schooners.

Model Shipways' Glad Tidings plans are based on Howard I's original drawings. Launched in 1937, Chapelle's Glad Tidings was a two-masted schooner with fore and aft mainsails.

This Glad Tidings contains features never before seen on any commercially available kit. Laser cutting for the side plating and  Construction plans show the inclination and placement of the hull's planking strips to the exact size. Single-board bulkhead construction uses laser-cut plywood, basswood and cherry components. Expertly cast Britannia metal castings include anchors, funnels, windlasses, portholes and of cabin and tensioners. Brass is used for eyebolts, split rings, nails and other accessories. The keel, bow, hull and deck planking strips, mast plugs and spars are made of fine lime wood. Six diameters of rigging in beige and black. Five sheets of detailed plans and an illustrated step-by-step instruction manual ensure hassle-free assembly. (The display base and stands are not included.)
