Brief historical reference
The homeland of this vessel is considered Sweden.
The basic drawings were made by the famous Swedish shipbuilder of English origin - Fredrik Chapman. The first constructions of these models date back to the 1870s. Unlike the classic gunboats, the Jolle were more cheap and took less time to build.
Heavy artillery weapons and good maneuverability. with a small crew, small displacement and very low draft have allowed this type of vessel to conduct operations in the most remote areas. difficult to reach. The main disadvantage of small rowing vessels was the lack of shelter; the result is that people were constantly on the upper deck, having no shelter at night and in bad weather.
During the Swedish War 1788-1790 years, Russia, which had captured the enemy's gunboats and jolles, appreciated quickly gained the advantages of this type of ship and began to build them the following year. In the early summer of 1789 the Baltic fleet succeeded in to place 63 gunboats built in Russia, descended from the ports of the Volkhov, Galley, Revel, Villmanstrand and Fredrikshamn shipyards.
In general, the appearance of Russian gunboats and Jolles in the Baltic, to the detriment of the Swedes who had invented them, had a decisive preponderance in favor of Russia, which influenced the results of the Swedish War of 1808-1809.
