The name of Bounty, a frigate of the British navy, is inextricably linked to its captain Bligh, and to the vicissitudes that caused his crew to multiply. The ship left to Spithead in December 1787, final destination Tahiti. During the return journey, due to the rigid discipline imposed by the captain, he began to a certain discontent spread among the crew which soon turned into in mutiny. Christian Fletcher, the boatswain, took command of the ship and forced Bligh to board a lifeboat with 18 remaining men. After a perilous voyage of over 4,000 miles, Bligh reached the island of Timor and then England. The Bounty is returned to Tahiti.
