&` an object with educational purposes, designed with essential shapes to enrich it with aesthetic value. It is an automaton with simple manual movement which represents a kinematic mechanism, that is, a machine which simulates in a synthetic, but emphasized and spectacular way, one of the most simple manifestations of nature: A drop of water falling on a body of water.

Description

In the 1950s, Harold Edgerton, professor of electrical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, combined stroboscopic lights with a camera equipped with a high-speed film advance motor to study the way of capturing images invisible to the naked eye, that is, those that form when a drop falls on a flat surface: the human eye sees the sequence that develops fluidly, but is unable to grasp all the images of which it is exposed. composed. In 1957 Harold Edgerton created the "Milk Drop Coronet" photograph, a revolutionary photograph that froze the impact of a drop of milk on a table, forming a crown of liquid visible for a millisecond. Other photographs, taken subsequently by dropping a drop on a liquid surface, showed the series of concentric waves that form on impact.
